Fall & Winter

THINGS TO DO - A few of our favorite Fall/Winter events, things to do and see - for you and your out-of-town guests.

- Take a trip to any of our local slopes to enjoy skiing, sledding and snowboarding or hang out in the lodge with a piping cup
of hot chocolate.

- Ice-skate on one of our many frozen lakes and ponds.

- In fall, take a scenic drive through the mountains for leaf-peeping or antiquing; in winter, share a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride with the one you love.

- Treat yourself to a Vermont favorite: "sugar on snow."

- Stay in bed, sip a hot toddy and count the snowflakes falling softly outside.

- Put on your helmet and go for a wintry jaunt on a guided snowmobile tour.

- Bring or borrow some snowshoes and trek through the hills and back country of Vermont.

- Take a guided horseback ride through snowy woods and meadows.

- Go outside and just simply play in the snow, make snow angels, build a snowman, or have a snowball fight!

- Chow on Cheddar and more at the Cabot Cheese Factory in Cabot, Vermont.

- Be daring! In February, take the plunge at the annual Penguin Plunge in Burlington. Don't forget your feather boa and vintage swim cap!

- Go for a tasty tour at one of the many micro-breweries throughout the state and bring a case or two home for your friends.

- For the real taste of Vermont, check out the listings in any local paper to find a church supper.

- Go apple picking at one of our many apple orchards, or hit the local farm stand for fresh produce, baked goods, crafts and more.

- Head to the Great Vermont Corn Maze in North Danville for some day or evening fun.

- Hop a ride on the Green Mountain Railroad for some great scenery, photo-ops and a relaxing and enjoyable ride.

- Check out the website of the Vermont Fresh Network (vermontfresh.net) and visit one of the member farms or restaurants turning out organic homegrown specialties.

- Try your skills dog-sledding at voga.org
